I have been singing with an instructor for a while, and decided to run through these lessons again as an adjunct, and because my next term doesn’t start until sometime in February. I have been able to overcome a condition called oromandibular dystonia, which is a movement disorder that causes my mouth to open involuntarily. It makes it next to impossible for me to relax the jaw completely. Do you have any suggestions as to how to compensate for this?
Singing Coach
Probably best to talk with a medical doctor about this. Best wishes!

This has been very affirming. Although I have known the basics of music for many years, I have been reminded. i have done scales on the piano but never with my voice this way. Understanding the position of the tongue and doing the exercises for relaxing the face will be interesting as I see, hear and feel the difference as I sing this week.
I am a retiree and just started singing at our Jams, where musicians and singers play together while people dance. It’s great fun and there is no pressure other than what we put on ourselves. Thanks and I look forward to learning more from as we go

Even for intermediate singers, this information is valuable. Many performers don’t even know how to read the music they sing, and it’s imperative in order to sing well.
